Unauthenticated service crash via unsupported E2AP message
Published Jun 1, 2026 · Updated Jun 1, 2026
Reachable assertion in the iApp dispatcher in EURECOM FlexRIC 2.0.0 allows remote attackers to crash the RIC service via an E2AP PDU. The e2ap_msg_handle_iapp() dispatcher passes the decoded message type to a nine-entry allowlist and calls assert() when the type is unsupported. No authentication or completed E42 setup is required; SIGABRT terminates the shared iApp and near-RT RIC process, disconnecting E2 Nodes and xApps.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
