Launcher entry modification via spoofed caller intent
Published Mar 7, 2026 · Updated Mar 7, 2026
Improper authorization in Freedom Factory dGEN1 20260221 allows local users to modify launcher entries through FakeAppService. The exported org.ethosmobile.ethoslauncher service trusts a caller-supplied intent value as proof of authorization, so any local app can impersonate a trusted caller. A low-privileged app can add, remove, or replace FakeApp launcher entries, enabling phishing or user deception without user interaction.
