CVE-2026-36425Public exploit

Arbitrary process termination via unprivileged IOCTL

Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026

Improper access control in OPSWAT AppRemover Driver 2017.10.02.1551 and earlier allows local users to terminate arbitrary processes. The ardrv.sys handler for IOCTL 0x2420031 accepts a caller-supplied PID and performs kernel-context termination without validating the caller or protecting critical processes. Any local user who can open the exposed device can interrupt security agents or other targeted services, including protected processes.
