Unauthenticated arbitrary file write via username traversal
Published May 22, 2026 · Updated May 22, 2026
Path traversal in Easy Chat Server 3.1 allows remote attackers to write files outside the registration directory via UserName. POST /registresult.htm uses UserName in a registration file path without enforcing directory containment, so traversal segments select an external destination. No authentication or user interaction is required; a web-executable destination enables code execution, while other reachable paths permit unauthorized file creation.
