CVE-2026-36189Public exploit

Process crash via unchecked template token index

Published May 21, 2026 · Updated May 21, 2026

Stack buffer overflow in Uncrustify 0.82.0-132-bcc41cbdc allows local users to crash the formatter with a crafted source file. In check_template(), template parsing writes angle and parenthesis token values into the fixed-size tokens stack array without first ensuring num_tokens is within bounds. The crafted file must be processed locally by the uncrustify executable, and the demonstrated consequence is a repeatable process crash.
