Kiosk bypass via userdata-erasing factory reset
Published Jul 8, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026
Protection mechanism failure in Code 27 Companion Hub 1.2.0 allows physically proximate attackers to bypass kiosk restrictions. The recovery factory-reset action wipes the userdata partition that contains the kiosk applications, while the system partition lacks copies to restore after reboot. Physical access to the recovery menu is required; the resulting unrestricted Android environment permits APK sideloading and unprivileged code execution on the live device.
