RTSP control bypass via unchecked Digest response
Published Apr 27, 2026 · Updated Apr 27, 2026
Authentication bypass in MERCURY MIPC252W firmware 1.0.5 Build 230306 Rel.79931n allows remote attackers to issue RTSP control commands. The RTSP service validates Digest authentication for the initial DESCRIBE request but does not verify the response value on later SETUP, PLAY, or TEARDOWN requests. Network access and nonce and session values from a previously authenticated session are required; reused values permit stream control without a valid Digest response.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
