Stored script execution via unescaped backup alias
Published Mar 20, 2026 · Updated Mar 20, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in Fahad Mahmood's Keep Backup Daily 2.1.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts. The update_kbd_bkup_alias AJAX action stores the val alias after sanitize_text_field(), then places it in HTML attributes without esc_attr(), leaving double quotes unencoded. Administrator-level access is required to save the alias, and the injected script runs when another administrator opens the backup list.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
