Authenticated file disclosure via faulty prefix validation
Published Jun 2, 2026 · Updated Jun 2, 2026
Path traversal in VIVOTEK FD8136 firmware 0300a allows remote authenticated users to read any device file via a crafted HTTP request. The /cgi-bin/admin/downloadMedias.cgi shell script checks only whether a decoded path starts with /mnt/auto/, then passes it to cat without resolving or rejecting traversal segments. HTTP Basic authentication is required; exploitation discloses filesystem contents without directly modifying data or interrupting service.
