Authenticated privilege escalation via overprivileged runtime scopes
Published Apr 10, 2026 · Updated Apr 10, 2026
Privilege escalation in OpenClaw before 2026.3.25 allows remote authenticated users to obtain administrative runtime privileges. The createPluginRouteRuntimeClient function assigns admin, approvals, and pairing scopes after gateway authentication instead of preserving caller-granted scopes. Access to a gateway-authenticated plugin HTTP route is required, after which restricted callers can invoke administrative gateway methods, including session deletion.
