Environment override handling in OpenClaw before 2026.3.22 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code via host commands. The Gateway's bash-tool and node-host execution paths did not consistently normalize override names or reject blocked and malformed keys before spawning processes. Low-privileged access to host execution is required; successful exploitation runs commands with unintended environment variables and can read, alter, or interrupt data managed by the process.
