Administrator RCE via unsanitized backup filename
Published Apr 7, 2026 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
Path traversal in ChurchCRM before 6.5.3 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute code via backup restore. RestoreJob.php concatenates the uploaded filename directly with the backup directory and moves the file without sanitizing path elements or restricting dangerous file types. Administrator access permits placement of an Apache .htaccess file followed by a PHP web shell, yielding code execution with web-server privileges.
