Local code execution via crafted connection parameters
Published Apr 3, 2026 · Updated Apr 3, 2026
Command injection in Amazon Athena ODBC driver before 2.1.0.0 allows local users to execute arbitrary code via crafted connection parameters. Authentication components process attacker-controlled special elements in connection parameters without neutralizing them, enabling code execution or authentication-flow redirection. Exploitation requires user-initiated authentication and processing of the crafted parameters on a supported Windows, Linux, or macOS host.
