Published Mar 21, 2026 · Updated Mar 21, 2026
Stored XSS in SherkSpear Sherk Custom Post Type Displays 1.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run scripts in visitors' browsers. The sherkcptdisplays_func() handler takes the title value returned by shortcode_atts() and concatenates it directly into an HTML h2 element without sanitization or output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store the crafted shortcode, and the script executes when a visitor opens the affected page.
