Staff-level arbitrary plugin installation via missing authorization
Published Apr 8, 2026 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Improper authorization in InvenTree before 1.2.7 allows remote authenticated staff users to install arbitrary plugins through the API. The plugin-installation API accepts staff access without enforcing the superuser requirement applied to other plugin-management actions. A staff account and enabled runtime plugin installation are required; installed plugin code can access server files, the database, and environment variables.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
