CVE-2026-35377

Local process termination via single-quote backslash rejection

Published Apr 22, 2026 · Updated Apr 22, 2026

Improper input validation in uutils coreutils env 0.8.0 and earlier allows local users to terminate split-string operations. The env -S parser wrongly validates backslashes inside single-quoted input and exits with status 125 for valid literals such as \a or \x. Exploitation requires local command execution and a crafted split string; the affected env process terminates without reading or altering data.
