Authenticated package installation via unchecked pip task
Published Apr 6, 2026 · Updated Apr 6, 2026
Authorization bypass in Ajenti before 2.2.15 allows remote authenticated users to install custom packages through its web panel. The InstallPlugin task invoked pip install without checking the process's effective UID; the patch adds an os.getuid() == 0 gate before launching pip. The path requires auth_users credentials but not Ajenti superuser status, allowing a low-privileged account to change installed server software.
