CVE-2026-35049Network attack vector

Authenticated crash loop via encrypted-payload underflow

Published Jun 2, 2026 · Updated Jun 2, 2026

Denial of service in Wire iOS before 4.16.0 allows remote authenticated users to trap the app in a crash loop via a crafted message. Proteus external-message processing subtracts the 16-byte authentication overhead from a shorter encrypted payload without first validating its length, causing integer underflow and a crash. A sender with conversation access can trigger the crash without user interaction, and the persistent message prevents relaunch until local state is erased.
