Host code execution via unsandboxed Jinja2 rendering
Published Apr 6, 2026 · Updated Apr 6, 2026
Server-side template injection in BentoML before 1.4.38 allows remote attackers to execute host code through a malicious Bento archive. The generate_containerfile() function renders an archive-supplied dockerfile_template with an unsandboxed Jinja2 Environment and the do extension. Execution requires a user to import the archive and run bentoml containerize, where template code runs before Docker starts with the user's host privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
