OS command execution via unescaped shell substitutions
Published Apr 3, 2026 · Updated Apr 3, 2026
OS command injection in Mervin Praison PraisonAI before 1.5.90 allows local users to execute shell commands through run_python(). The function interpolates user-controlled Python code into a double-quoted shell command and invokes subprocess.run() with shell=True, but escapes only backslashes and quotation marks. A low-privilege caller can use $() or backticks to execute arbitrary commands as the PraisonAI process before Python starts.
