Administrator escalation via unchecked installer reparse points
Published May 19, 2026 · Updated May 19, 2026
Symbolic-link handling in Dell Color Management Software before 3.7.0.010 allows local users to gain Administrator privileges. The elevated installer writes CCFLFamily_07Feb11.edr without validating whether its destination resolves through symbolic links or reparse points. A low-privileged Windows user must plant a link before installation, enabling arbitrary file creation or overwrite with elevated privileges.
