Unauthenticated settings modification via missing cookie validation
Published Apr 2, 2026 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Authentication bypass in Bulwark Webmail before 1.4.10 allows remote attackers to access and alter user settings over the network. The verifyIdentity() function returns true when a request supplies no session cookies, so arbitrary headers pass the security check at /api/settings. No account or user interaction is required, but settings sync must be enabled; the result is unauthorized settings access and modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
