CVE-2026-34765Network attack vector

Privilege inheritance via cross-context named-window reuse

Published Apr 7, 2026 · Updated Apr 7, 2026

Privilege escalation in Electron allows remote authenticated users to inherit elevated permissions through a named child window. Named window.open lookup crosses browsing-context groups, letting an unrelated renderer navigate a child and inherit its webPreferences. Exposure requires differently trusted top-level windows and elevated child settings; disabling the sandbox or enabling Node integration permits code execution.
