CVE-2026-34451Network attack vector

Sandbox escape via separator-free path prefix check

Published Mar 31, 2026 · Updated Mar 31, 2026

Path traversal in Anthropic TypeScript SDK 0.79.0 through 0.80.0 allows attackers to read and write files outside the memory root. The local filesystem memory tool's validatePath and validateNoSymlinkEscape checks accept resolved sibling paths because startsWith compares the root string without a trailing path separator. Exploitation requires model-supplied path control, such as prompt injection, and is limited to files accessible to the hosting process.
