Administrator escalation via update payload substitution
Published Apr 16, 2026 · Updated Apr 16, 2026
Local privilege escalation in ASUS Member Center 1.6.6.4 and earlier allows local users to execute substituted update payloads as Administrator. The update modules leave a post-download window in which the expected payload can be replaced without an integrity check before execution. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access, precise timing during an update, and user consent; a successful payload gains administrative execution.
