Session impersonation via direct weak cookie encryption keys
Published Apr 1, 2026 · Updated Apr 1, 2026
Insufficient entropy in Auth0-PHP 8.0.0 through 8.18.0 allows remote authenticated users to forge encrypted session cookies. CookieStore passes the configured cookieSecret directly to AES-128-GCM without key derivation, preserving insufficient entropy in weak secrets. Exploitation requires an application using cookie-backed sessions, a guessable secret, and low-privilege access; a forged cookie can impersonate another session.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
