Restricted-account escalation via API method mapping
Published Jun 5, 2026 · Updated Jun 5, 2026
Improper authentication in TP-Link Tapo C520WS v2 before 1.2.6 Build 260528 allows remote authenticated users to execute restricted API operations. The authorization layer accepts crafted method mappings that disguise blocked operations as whitelisted requests. Access to a restricted account and adjacent-network reachability are required; successful requests can reset the device, alter configuration, or interrupt operation.
