User misdirection via relative protection help link
Published May 11, 2026 · Updated May 11, 2026
Navigation flaw in MediaWiki before 1.43.7, 1.44.4, and 1.45.2 allows remote authenticated users to misdirect help-link clicks. Article.php builds the customized help target for the page-protection indicator without the required /wiki/ prefix, so browsers resolve it relative to the protected subpage. Exploitation requires high-privileged control of the customized link and a user click; the resulting navigation reaches only a wrong wiki-relative destination.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
