Message interception via whitespace-sensitive policy parsing
Published Apr 7, 2026 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
Information disclosure in xdg-dbus-proxy before 0.1.7 allows local users to intercept restricted D-Bus messages via policy rules. The policy parser recognizes eavesdrop=true but fails to treat equivalent forms such as eavesdrop ='true' as eavesdrop rules, so the filter omits the intended restriction. A local client with access to the proxied bus can exploit the mismatch to read messages outside its configured policy, without altering data or interrupting service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
