NULL pointer dereference in the CDXML parser of Open Babel 3.1.1 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to crash a process via a crafted file. ChemDrawXMLFormat::EndElement retrieves an atom referenced by malformed input and passes the unchecked null pointer to OBAtomAssignTypicalImplicitHydrogens, which reaches OBAtom::GetExplicitValence. Exploitation requires a CLI user to open the file or an application, binding, or service to parse it; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash.
