CVE-2026-34079

Host file deletion via unchecked cache path

Published Apr 7, 2026 · Updated Apr 7, 2026

Path traversal in Flatpak before 1.16.4 allows local users running a malicious sandboxed app to delete arbitrary host files. Its ld.so cache cleanup accepts an app-controlled path and removes the referenced outdated cache entry without confirming that the path remains inside the cache directory. A malicious Flatpak app is the required gate, and successful exploitation deletes host files selected through the crafted path.
