Authenticated patient-data access via missing endpoint ACL
Published Mar 25, 2026 · Updated Mar 25, 2026
Improper authorization in OpenEMR before 8.0.0.3 allows remote authenticated users to import or export patient data by direct request. The custom/export_xml.php endpoint exported patient demographics without enforcing the patients/demo ACL check relied upon by the interface. A receptionist account can bypass disabled popup controls, exposing bulk records and permitting crafted XML patient-data insertion.
