CVE-2026-34000

Memory disclosure and crash via unchecked XKB alias

Published May 5, 2026 · Updated May 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in XKB geometry processing in Red Hat Enterprise Linux allows local users to disclose memory or crash X11. The CheckSetGeom() handler validates only the alias name before XkbAddGeomKeyAlias reads both alias entries, leaving the real key name unchecked. Exploitation requires an X11 connection, including a forwarded remote session, and causes only memory disclosure or an X server crash.
