Desktop RCE via stored Web Clipper XSS
Published Mar 27, 2026 · Updated Mar 27, 2026
Stored XSS in Streetwriters Notesnook before 3.3.11 on Web/Desktop allows remote attackers to execute code in the desktop app. The clipper copies unfiltered root-element attributes into stored clip HTML, which the renderer passes to contentDocument.write in a same-origin, unsandboxed iframe. Exploitation requires the victim to save a complete clip from an attacker-controlled page and later open it; event handlers run in the Notesnook origin, and Electron's enabled Node integration grants desktop code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
