Host file read and write via broken chroot
Published Mar 26, 2026 · Updated Mar 26, 2026
Template injection in Linux Containers Incus before 6.23.0 allows remote authenticated users to read or write host files as root. The LXC and QEMU instance template paths render pongo2 templates through a ChrootLoader whose isolation is never enforced, exposing file functions to host paths. Access requires privileges to supply an instance template; exploitation crosses the instance boundary and compromises host confidentiality and integrity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
