CVE-2026-33888Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated field disclosure via projection bypass

Published Apr 15, 2026 · Updated Apr 15, 2026

Incorrect authorization in ApostropheCMS 4.28.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to read restricted fields through the REST API. In @apostrophecms/piece-type getRestQuery, applyBuildersSafely accepts a project parameter before authorization, so populated projection state skips publicApiProjection. Exploitation requires a publicly queryable piece type with publicApiProjection configured; document permissions still prevent access to otherwise inaccessible documents.
