Application crash via merged-upsample scanline skipping
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in MolotovCherry Android-ImageMagick7 before 7.1.2-10 allows local users to crash image processing. The jpeg_skip_scanlines() path treats a merged upsampler as the non-merged private structure and overwrites an IDCT method pointer; its discard path can also pass NULL into jcopy_sample_rows(). Exploitation requires user interaction and merged upsampling while skipping scanlines in a crafted 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 JPEG, interrupting the calling application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
