Application crash via DFA decoder off-by-one
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in LinkingVision RapidVMS before PR #96 allows remote attackers to crash the application via a crafted DFA file. The bundled FFmpeg decode_dds1 function checks for only width plus three remaining bytes before writing through frame[width + 1], producing a one-byte out-of-bounds heap write. Opening attacker-controlled media is required, and the established consequence is an application crash; broader impact remains unspecified.
