CVE-2026-33801

Routing outage via malformed BGP update

Published Jul 9, 2026 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Improper condition handling in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows attackers to crash and restart RPD via BGP. RPD processes a specifically malformed non-inet/inet6 unicast BGP update instead of rejecting it, triggering a process crash and automatic restart. Exploitation requires an established BGP session; routing remains unavailable until reconvergence, and the update is not propagated downstream.
