CVE-2026-33793

Root privilege escalation via unsigned Python scripts

Published Apr 9, 2026 · Updated Apr 9, 2026

Execution with unnecessary privileges in Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows local users to gain root privileges through Python op scripts. The UI executes unsigned Python op scripts as a root-equivalent user instead of preserving the invoking non-root user's privileges. Python 3 op scripts must be enabled; remote script execution also requires allow-url-for-python, while Junos OS Evolved enables Python 3 by default from 21.2R1.
