Elevated command execution via unsanitized webtheme parameter
Published Mar 27, 2026 · Updated Mar 27, 2026
OS command injection in Pi-hole Web Interface before 6.0 allows remote attackers to execute commands with elevated privileges. The savesettings.php handler concatenates the POST webtheme value into a pihole command passed to PHP exec() without validation or shell escaping. No authentication or user interaction is required, and appended shell syntax executes through the sudo-enabled pihole wrapper with elevated privileges.
