File disclosure via symlinked Git subdir escape
Published Mar 27, 2026 · Updated Mar 27, 2026
Path traversal in Moby BuildKit before 0.28.1 allows remote attackers to read files outside a Git repository via a crafted subdir fragment. Git URL fragment subdir handling fails to confine symlink resolution to the checked-out repository root, allowing traversal into the mounted filesystem. Exploitation requires a build using a Git URL with a subpath that points through a symlink, and disclosure is limited to files on the same mounted filesystem.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
