Published Apr 10, 2026 · Updated Apr 10, 2026
Privilege escalation in Chamilo LMS before 1.11.38 allows remote authenticated users with REST API keys to gain teacher privileges. In Rest.php, updateUserFromUserName() permits self-profile edits and passes unvalidated status, roles, and auth_source values to user setters. A student API account can set status to Teacher/CourseManager, enabling course creation, content management, and student grading.
