CVE-2026-33609Network attack vector

Authenticated internal DNS disclosure via LDAP escaping

Published Apr 22, 2026 · Updated Apr 22, 2026

LDAP injection in PowerDNS Authoritative Server allows remote authenticated users to read internal DNS data through crafted DNS queries. The LDAP backend's powerldap.cc query construction incompletely escapes an 8-bit DNS name before embedding it in an LDAP distinguished-name search. The flaw requires an affected release, the LDAP backend, and nondefault 8bit-dns; access is limited to internal domain subtrees, with no system compromise.
