Arbitrary file read via unvalidated media aliases
Published Mar 31, 2026 · Updated Mar 31, 2026
Path traversal in OpenClaw before 2026.3.24 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary local files through message tool aliases. The message-action parameter normalizer applies localRoots sandbox checks to canonical media keys but omits the mediaUrl and fileUrl aliases. A caller with low-privilege message-tool access can route either alias outside permitted media roots, exposing host files without write access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
