Stored cross-site scripting via unescaped historical tag names
Published Mar 23, 2026 · Updated Mar 23, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in the Timeline view of MantisBT 2.28.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user's browser. IssueTagTimelineEvent::html() emits a renamed or deleted tag's history-sourced name without HTML escaping when tag_get_by_name() returns false. Exploitation requires a crafted tag history entry and another user to view the Timeline; arbitrary JavaScript execution additionally requires permissive CSP settings.
