Arbitrary file read via traversed template paths
Published Mar 26, 2026 · Updated Mar 26, 2026
Path traversal in InvenTree before 1.2.6 allows remote authenticated users with staff access to read arbitrary server files. The encode_svg_image(), asset(), and uploaded_image() template tags pass attacker-controlled paths to direct filesystem operations without containing resolution to approved storage roots. Staff permission to upload or edit report templates is required; host-level exposure depends on the filesystem privileges of the InvenTree process.
