Persistent sessions via unrestricted session field updates
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Parse Server before 8.6.57 and 9.0.0 through 9.6.0-alpha.47 allows remote authenticated users to extend sessions. RestWrite.handleSession accepts expiresAt and createdWith in session-token PUT requests without requiring master or maintenance authorization. Any authenticated user can make that user's session effectively permanent, bypassing the configured session lifetime without affecting other accounts.
