Authentication bypass via untrusted forwarded protocol header
Published Mar 26, 2026 · Updated Mar 26, 2026
Authentication bypass in Ory Oathkeeper before 26.2.0 allows remote attackers to trigger a different access rule via a crafted header. The proxy's EnrichRequestedURL function unconditionally used X-Forwarded-Proto to set the request scheme instead of honoring trust_forwarded_headers. Exploitation requires distinct HTTP and HTTPS rules and access to a request path where changing the inferred scheme selects a less restrictive rule.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
