CVE-2026-33481Network attack vector

Service interruption via uncleared archive temporary files

Published Mar 26, 2026 · Updated Mar 26, 2026

Improper temporary-file cleanup in Anchore Syft before 1.42.3 allows remote attackers to interrupt services by supplying a crafted archive. The file-source archive path unpacks input into temporary storage but exits without cleaning its temporary directory when extraction fails after exhausting that storage. Exploitation requires the archive to be scanned; large or highly compressed input can leave storage full, blocking later Syft runs and other utilities that depend on temporary space.
